Question for Today:

Enoughness

Travel and live lightly!
Feather

What does enoughness mean to you, and how much is enough? Enough to be happy, to explore your human life?

Beneath enoughness lies wisdom and simplicity. Enoughness can be applied in many aspects of our life, from being enough (worthiness) and doing enough to having enough.

Of course, one’s basic survival needs must be met. However, the constant feeling of ‘never enough’ (whether it is being, doing, or having) puts us in the gap and generates the feeling of lack. Even when our basic needs are met, or we may even be living the lifestyle we once dreamed of.

Practising enoughness creates the space and lightness within us to explore and discover other magical parts of being human beyond survival. Being human allows us to experience living, enjoying and exploring our infinite potential.

Enoughness to me is like travelling lightly. Bringing along just what we need on the trip, packing light but sufficient, with just the right amount of stuff. We bring what we need and use, with the quality we are willing to spend on, and clothes we love. It’s simple, spacious, personalised, and fully utilised. And not overstuff the luggage with things excessively not needed on this trip but just take up space and add weight to lug around.

A personal example is my day job brings me income for my basic needs, lifestyle and savings. The reason I stay in my job is for the income to build savings for me to be independent, start a personal project, and be able to purchase or rent a space to live by myself. Practising enoughness is knowing how much I need to fulfil the above. And when the monetary goal is hit, is not get stuck in survivor mode (when I do have enough) but remind myself to let the resources I worked hard for serve their purpose: learn and grow, explore and expand my life experiences.

It is easy to wish to accumulate and hoard more and more for the future, for a more comfortable life. However, if the accumulation becomes excessive and is in the expanse of our present life (where we work or spend most of our present moment doing things that we can’t wait to be over with). Then that is when the future may get in the way of our present. Blocking us from living in the here and now. Life is unpredictable, we do not need to be ignorant of our future, but we must not forget to live and enjoy our life, our health and the time we have Now.

Practising enoughness creates space for us to live now and also create space to change our future as inspired. Like travelling lightly and not overstuffing our luggage, it makes room for new purchases or new plans. Overstuffing our luggage is like having our whole life plan and not leaving room for a new inspired plan to come through. We change, evolve and mature every season of our life; how would 25-year-old us know what is best for our 50-year-old us?

When we live with enoughness, we strengthen our connection with ourselves and our abilities to survive and live. And trust our intuition and signs from the Universe that we are divinely guided towards our highest good and destiny.

Love & Light,
